DAISY LIST HERO SHOUT- OUT

Hello my DAISY LIST readers,                                                                                                                     POST 2020-07

DAISY LIST is all about DREAMS, SURVIVAL, SUCCESS, GIVING BACK, and INSPIRATIONAL people.

During these unprecedented difficult times it is important to recognize individuals that fall in any of these categories.

DAISY LIST is giving a shout-out to 2 exceptional young woman who are doing just that, and both of them happen to be NURSES.

Meet Joi Copeland – It just happens that I’m her surrogate Godmother.

I’ve known her all her life, and from the very, very beginning I told her Mother, she was definitely special.  I declared the first time I saw her that I was sure that she had been here before.  Through the years, she has proved me correct.

I knew in my heart she was here to do something SPECIAL and as it turns out she has hit her mark.  It’s almost as though her whole life has been a practice run for the biggest disaster this country has ever experienced so far.

By the time Covid-19 hit, she had worked her way up to REGIONAL CLINICAL DIRECTOR for 4 Nursing Homes, 3 in Jacksonville, Fla, and one in Georgia with a staff of 400 and a patient count of 400 plus.

When the pandemic hit, as a young mother of 3 children, she still managed to report to work each and every day to provide the leadership necessary for all 4 establishments.

She has continuously been commended for much of her past work, however this assignment has reach levels so high, I’m not sure there are any awards currently available to recognize her work.

This shout-out is about saying THANK YOU AND WE SO APPRECIATE your work during this historically devastating time Joi.

Joi has maintained an extraordinary work schedule thus far, but when the rest of us are lifted from quarantine, she and others like her will be continuing to work like Heroes and Warriors to provide the Special care they give their patients.

These Nurses should not be celebrated just during times of disaster, they should be celebrated each and every single day.

Another extraordinary and amazing young woman.  Although I’ve only known Jasmin for a short period of time, it doesn’t take long to recognize a Special individual.

I met Jasmin at her graduation celebration when she graduated from Aria School of Nursing, and she received her BSN from Penn State a few years ago.

Since then I’ve grown to know her better and over a few conversations, I was so impressed about her attitude about Nursing. Not only did she feel it was her calling, but she was determined to make a difference with the service she would provide to her patients.  I remember thinking, anyone that dedicated, had to be Special.  And that was well before the Pandemic.

Since the pandemic I have learned that Jasmin works at the Abington Jefferson Hospital in Abington, PA as a surgical ICU Nurse in the Covid-19 ward.  Whenever she is called, she reports to duty without hesitation.

For such a young person she has demonstrated a level of professional behavior to be commended by all of us.

These young Heroes, Warriors, and First Responders are definitely to be celebrated for stepping up to responsibilities well beyond their years.

As I’ve told my friends many times, “The US Treasury doesn’t have enough money in their vault for me to do that type of work.”

Forget the training, skill, compassion and the discipline it takes, I’m too much of a wimp, I seriously faint at the sight of a needle.

I think there should be a special type of medal, or at the very least some serious compensation not just for some, but for all of them.

WE AT DAISY LIST ARE ASKING ALL OF YOU FOR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT FOR ALL OF THE NURSES AND FRONT LINE FIRST RESPONDERS TO KEEP THEM SAFE.
